Community Screenings
The collective film viewing experience is a powerful way of bringing people together; it is not only a way to experience creativity but a physical meeting space that can connect us. We believe that opportunities to enjoy thought-provoking cultural film programming should be enjoyed by everyone. That’s why our free, community screenings take film programming out of traditional galleries and arts institutions and bring them into our Brent community to showcase the films and stories of Black and non-white filmmakers in a warm and welcoming environment.
We celebrate the work of radical, anti-colonial, and unconventional filmmakers both past and present through one-off screenings and festival seasons. We believe film to be a powerful medium for political education, social engagement, and a form of memory that expands our radical imaginations. Our audiences are intergenerational and reflect the racial and class diversity of Brent. Over the years we have held more than 70 screenings and discussion panels and have built strong links to local and national cultural organisations that share our community-engaged focus.
